D.V.L.A. The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority. Loads of stuff here to help you. Absolutely everything you need to know about driving licences and how to get one.
Driving Standards Agency - the official site. Lots of useful information about driving tests and you can book a theory test online. There are also mock theory tests and lots more of interest.
Highway Code online - this is an indispensable link to have in your ‘bookmarks’ (just under “Call Harry ” - of course!!).
Pass Plus - the scheme backed by the Government, the Driving Standards Agency and major insurance companies to encourage newly qualified drivers to become better drivers. Pass Plus gives you the driving skills that would otherwise take a long time to learn. Pass Plus consists of an additional course of six specially designed training sessions to follow on from your driving test. The modules cover driving: in town, out of town, in all weather, at night, on dual carriageways, and on motorways.

What If? is a series of videos accompanied by booklets designed to boost your awareness of hazards on the road. motoring.gov.uk is a useful site to find government motoring resources. The purpose of this is to provide a single access point to information relating to motoring issues.
Road Code is the ‘highway code’ for young road users, and has been written to help young people use the roads safely. A great site for budding motorists
Multimap.com is Europe's most popular mapping web site, offering a range of free, useful services to assist with your everyday motoring life. Key features include street-level maps of the United Kingdom, Europe, and the US; road maps of the world; door-to-door travel directions; aerial photographs; and local information.

Auto trader - whether you are buying or selling a car, this is the place to do it. With a huge database of cars, and useful search tools, this is the UK's premier site. Always have a look here to compare the price of a car you fancy with cars on offer around the country.

Want to know the best ways to buy new or used with advice for the novice? Want to learn how to import a car, how to buy one at auction, and how to sell one? Institute of Advanced Motorists - Find out about local groups in your area. The IAM give regular talks and demonstrations and you can always find something of interest at their meetings. The IAM driving test is held regularly in all areas.
The ROSPA advanced drivers group. If you want to improve your driving and take an advanced driving test - look here. There are local groups throughout the country. ROSPA examiners have a minimum qualification of an advanced police certificate.
Shell GeoStar is a free service offered by Shell Europe. Shell GeoStar offers in depth journey planning for car travel across 16 countries in Western Europe, including street level maps and driving directions, car travel related information, tourist information on routes and destinations, plus the ability to reserve your hotel and rental car and purchase travel related goods such as books, maps and music.
How Stuff Works - look at the AUTOSTUFF section of the site to find out all about car’s and whats under your bonnet.. There are great tutorials, with really clever animations, which explain things very well. There is also loads of other "How Stuff Works" - from computers, to your health, money and nuclear bombs. Don’t try to make one while you’re driving !!
Use CarwatchUK to check that the car you are thinking of buying is all it seems to be. A simple web based check for £19.95 (correct as of August, 2004) tells you if the car is stolen or wanted by the police; has been an insurance write-off; or has had a registration plate change. Also tells you the date of first UK registration, any colour change, recorded chassis/VIN and engine numbers, number of previous keepers, late of last keeper change and if the car is recorded as an independent import.
